Hollis and the End of Summer

This post is definitely an oldie…but a goodie! Its so old (taken back in July…I know) that when I met up with the Moore family during the fall mini session, I realized that it had already been 3 months since I had taken Hollis’ pictures! Omgsh!!! This summer (and fall for that matter) just absolutely FLEW by! Geez! So with that in mind, I thought why not bid a final farewell to summer and welcome fall and very soon winter! 😀
Here is Hollis, back when he was a wee 9 months old!
I was SO excited when Kate emailed me and inquired about a session. I absolutely LOVE Kate and her family for many reasons! Not only is she the creator of my awesome logo, but she also created mine and Robby’s Save-the-Date and will be doing our invitation suite for the big day!!! I cannot say enough great things about Kate! She also just so happens to have the cutest two boys ever!!! You’ll see more of Finn tomorrow when I share their awesome Fall Session and Hollis’ One Year pictures!!
I loved Kate’s idea for Hollis’ pictures! For the first location we literally walked out into their side yard and sat Hollis in the grass…you don’t need very much to make this little guy cute!
I cannot get over his expression. This is it…he literally gave me this expression all morning!!
When I asked Kate what she had in mind for Hollis, she knew exactly what she wanted. She said he loves the water, especially taking a bath, and she thinks getting him in the pool would be so much fun! I couldn’t agree more! I LOVE out of the box session! Me in my bathing suit, with my camera in the water is definitely out of the box! 😀
Someone’s momma is not very nice and decided to splash him. Luckily, Hollis is a total trooper and got back to giggling in no time!
LOVE his shirt! Teehee!
One of my favs!!!!!
Such a ham!!! I love this little guy! You’ll get to see him all dolled up tomorrow so stay tuned!
Hollis and the End of Summer

Thankful

Thanksgiving is my all-time favorite holiday! So many people always ask “Why? Isn’t Christmas your favorite?” Don’t get me wrong, Christmas rocks, but Thanksgiving was always the time of year where I got to see my entire family! I didn’t grow up with my grandparents right down the street from me where we saw them every Sunday like so many of my friends did. My grandparents lived 6 hours away! So going up to Covington, VA to see them was a huge deal! It didn’t matter if I spent Thanksgiving with my Gammy and Pawpaw and the whole Dressler side of the family, or if we went and had a delicious meal with my Meemaw and Papaw and the Folks family; we got to spend time together. To me, that is the essence of Thanksgiving. Spending the day with the people you love the most. There are no expectations (except that the ham better be a Virginia spiral and not honey baked), but just hanging out with my amazing cousins, my hilarious and usually always crazy aunts, hearing the best stories and having stimulating conversations with my aunt and uncle…these are the memories that have literally consumed my childhood and now adulthood.
So now that I’m done being mushy, here are some special reasons why I am so thankful this year. 2011 has been a pretty fantastic year; not just for me personally, but also in pursuing my dream of becoming a photographer. So I am going to leave you with a couple of pictures from each of my sessions this year. Whether it was completely smitten couples, big bellies, crying babies or the big day, I have grown to love all of my clients. You all are so incredibly special to me! I’m thankful for each and every one of you!

Happy Thanksgiving!!
Thankful

Haley

It has taken me WAY too long to do this session! But with fall coming and going, things have been crazy and blogging has had (sadly) to take a back burner. But no longer! Yay!!
Meet Haley and her beautiful momma Melissa! I have known Haley since she was born…she just so happens to be my bestest beyond bestest friend’s adorable niece! I have always called Haley “Mogley” because she reminds me so much of the character from The Jungle Book, weird, I know! 🙂 But I love her immensely! When Melissa told me that she had wanted to have some pictures done of Haley (and maybe a couple with her) I was so excited!!! Haley has such an awesome personality that I knew it would be nothing but loads of fun! Well, little miss thing thought she would put on her shy face to start. Well, that ended quickly once we found this awesome baby weeping willow and I had her “find” me! 🙂 So much fun!!!
Haley told me that she wanted to take pictures with her mom! So I was totally game! Ummm, they literally are identical…even their personalities. It makes me giggle just to think about it! I had Melissa surprise Haley with a tickle session…definitely one of my best ideas!
Off we went to explore the park! This was actually my second session for the DAY at Campbell Station Park! I just love that place!
Gosh….don’t you just love little girl freckles and soft eyelashes and baby hairs?!? So stinking cute!
See what I mean about them looking so much alike?!?
We had so much fun at the weeping willow that Haley wanted to go back! I have to say that these next few pictures are some of my favorite EVER!!
Haley, my little Mogley, I love you and your momma so much!!! I hope we can get together SOON and go frolic somewhere else! 🙂 Maybe your awesome aunt can tag along too?!?
Check back later this week for Baby Jack!!! He’s a scene stealer…I’m telling you!
