the buehlers in the city

This family, this city, this session. Everything absolutely lined up for my FIRST San Francisco shoot! I couldn’t have asked for better clients to kick start my business. It’s kind of crazy how Katie and I “met”. I posted K&R’s sneak peak of their Knoxville wedding, and Katie happened to see it in a round-a-bout way. She then happened to see that I was located here in SF and boom I got a message! Not only is she crazy sweet, but she is also “from” Knoxville. What?! It’s like it was meant to be! Her husband is completing his residency here in the city and they will be heading back to Knoxville later in June. I’m crazy sad to see them go as I’ve developed quite the little crush on this family!

Katie said she wanted to document her family’s short time here in the city with some of their favorite local spots! A typical Saturday for them. I loved the idea! So off we went to Alta Plaza Park then for a couple of sweet treats at Sift. I LOVE some of the shots we got there!! To see Ella and Collin light up at all the cupcakes was SO stinking adorable! We rounded out the lifestyle session with a quintessential SF moment. Catching the Muni. Lets say, this was perfect. Not only was it a crowded bus, but it 100% had the feel of San Francisco. People completely did their thing while I snapped shots all around them. Then, as we were getting off of the bus, it just so happened to break down. A sweet southern accent and a question and boom, we were back on the bus for a few minutes taking extra pics. LOVE this city!!! Enjoy!

These three next photos are so stinking cute!!! LOVE the last one…probably my favorite picture of the session!

Busy Crickets

Busy crickets…what on Earth am I talking about? I honestly don’t know at this point. I was going with a thought of my blog has been like crickets lately. I haven’t posted in well over a month (which I just hate) but but those crickets have been super, super busy somewhere else!

As many of you know (or may not, but you can catch up here), I am now a San Franciscian! 🙂 This city has honestly completely surpassed all of my expectations and has shown me that although I might not currently reside in the South, our “Southern Hospitality” doesn’t only reside in the South, either. Well, let me rephrase that, people here are just plain nice! And that…was a lovely surprise!

More on our move, trials and adventures later! 🙂

I wanted to share all the amazing yumminess that I have been neck deep in over the last few weeks! These are all sessions and weddings that are still in my queue to finish up in the next couple of weeks before I head back to TN for my last 2013 wedding! I want to give a shout out to all of my amazing clients who have been SO patient with me! Packing a 3 bedroom apartment, saying goodbye to friends, families and clients, having an incredibly (you can’t even imagine his medicine schedule) puppers, moving across the country, shipping my computer (I thought I was going to chew off all of my fingernails), and traveling back and forth has really put a toll on me and my schedule. Thank you, thank you, thank you!!!! You all mean the world to me and thank you so much for all of your encouraging words and support through this HUGE life change!!!

On to the fun stuff! You will see all of these sessions in their own blogs (plus the 20 or so sessions that I have delivered, but not blogged yet) soon! 🙂

Smiles,
Kayla F

P.S…these images are in absolutely no order in terms of where they are in the queue! 🙂

the kiddo | elijah vance

So as you are reading this, I am on my way to Nashville for an awesome photography workshop help by two AMAZING industry professionals!!! I hope to come back with a fire under my tush to accomplish my 2013 goals (which I will share in a later post) and take this whole photography “thing” to another level. Its my passion and why shouldn’t I be happy and do this as much and as BIG as I can?!? So, more with that later! Now onto the awesome stuff…
This may be one of my favorite sessions and clients (I know I know…I say this every time, but my clients ROCK my socks off)!! When I received Sarah’s email I might have done a little happy dance at my computer!!! I had been FB and Pinterest stalking Sarah since her wedding that I shot with Jennie Andrews all the way back in 2010!!! I was just absolutely BLOWN away that she would ask me to do her newborn session!! So baby watch began…and ended rather soon! Before I knew it, I was sending an email just checking in and Elijah had been born the day before (so maybe my stalking skills are not up to par). Since it was December and chilly (or freezing) we decided to do the session at home! I love love LOVE home sessions! Especially newborn home sessions. Everyone is comfy, everything that baby needs is right there, and if you are to ever have pictures taken in your home, it should be with a new addition to the family! Eeek! Be prepared to Oohhhh and Aaaahhhh! I know I did countless times while taking these pictures, editing them and then again when choosing which ones to blog! 😀
I came in to a sleepy baby (which is my favorite) and he was just soooo stinking cute! I soon found that the apple doesn’t fall far from the tree and Elijah definitely takes after his Dad, Jason in height! He’s SOOO long!!!!
Look at those cheeks!
I think babies with one sock is mandatory. Two socks is not cute, one sock…PERFECT!
Omgsh…just melts my heart how Jason looks at Elijah!!!
Sarah is little miss crafty! She not only made these adorable letters, but she also showed me all kinds of other adorable things….like a growth chart that goes all the way up to 7ft! Lol!!! Hey, you never with this kiddos’ genes!
LOVE all the orange details!!! The awesome mobile is from Africa when Sarah went and did mission work last year and the type writer is a present from a friend. LOVE details in a nursery!!!!
Ok, maybe this one is my favorite…I seriously just can’t get over it!
Seriously, seriously?!?! No, this one is my fav of the day! 😀
Sarah, Jason and of course Elijah, thank you SO much for inviting me into your “temporary” home and taking these images of Elijah! I hope you cherish them and I can’t wait to see you soon! 6 months will be here before you know it! 😀
Smiles,
Kayla F

Little Man Lucas

This little guy, Lucas, and his parents are some of my absolute FAVS!!! When Ashley shot me a message saying she wanted some pictures of Little Man Lucas for his 6 months, I thought to myself “Its about TIME!!!” LOL! I did Ashley and Steven’s Bump Photos back in October and have been itching to meet Lucas ever since I saw those big blue eyes on Facebook! So Ashley, Steven, Lucas and I hit up Concord Park for a little fun in the shade! Let me just say that I have yet to meet a baby that wasn’t happy!! I don’t know what it is about a camera, but they just light up! Lucas probably takes the cake when it comes to big boy smiles and insane fits of giggles!
Seriously, little old man New Balances! I wanted to stick these in my bag so bad and make off with them!
I just absolutely love this image…especially in B&W. I don’t know what it is…but its so calming.
Lucas and his Momma…seriously, he was such a ham! It also helped that he is completely enamored with his Daddy and Steven did a great job keeping him entertained!!!
I LOVE when a dad plays with his kiddo!!!
I’m heading up to VA this weekend for a fun family birthday party and a 1 year session!!! So excited to see the family and finally chill out (or semi chill-out) for a weekend! Make sure to head back on Monday for an amazing engagement session that I had out in a little park in Oak Ridge! 🙂

Aidyn’s December

I can’t even begin to believe that it is New Year’s Eve..eve! 2011 has been a phenomenal year for me (however, I don’t think I couldn’t have topped how bad 2010 was). I’m engaged and planning the most important day of my life with the love of my life and couldn’t be happier! I kicked off my photography business and plan on expanding it for 2012 (updates coming right after the new year so keep an eye out!). I have a stable full time job, which is a far cry from last year. And 2011 has been a healthy year for the people I love (minus my broken foot). 2011, I will never forget you! And 2012…I can’t wait to meet you!
So now onto one of the cutest little baby girls ever! Meet Miss Aidyn (and her beautiful big blue eyes!) This little girl is not only loved by her awesome parents, but her big sis Addy is totally smitten with her too! They are both too adorable! Kim and Matt…congrats on the prettiest girls ever! 🙂
Is Aidyn not the happiest looking baby!?! Poor thing was even feeling sick that morning, but she showed up for her pictures! We couldn’t have asked for a better session!
Such an awesome moment between father and daughter!
Oh I would give anything for those eyelashes!!
